It is very important that a quilt does not have extra fabric in the borders when quilting on a longarm machine.  If there is extra fabric in the border, the quilting may have a "curtain" appearance, in that the fabric will bunch up and tuck if the border is larger than the quilt.  Using these instructions for applying borders to a quilt insure that the "curtaining" will not happen on your quilt!
